Under the microscope of the Cyprus Medical Association are put health professionals who prevent citizens from being vaccinated. He stresses that what is seen in the light of the publicity has not escaped his attention, stressing that where, after proper investigation, it is found that there is a violation of the Code of Medical Professional Ethics, then legal procedures are followed by the competent bodies of the Association.
In a written statement, the President of PIS, Dr. Petros Agathangelou states that "what is seen in the light of the publicity concerning individual members, who act contrary to the instructions of the competent authorities in this matter, rest assured that they have not been distracted", noting that " where after proper investigation it is found that there is a violation of the Code of Medical Professional Ethics, then legal procedures are followed by the competent bodies of the Association'.
Moreover, on the occasion of the new sharp increase in Covid-19 cases, particularly among the unvaccinated population, Dr. Agathangelou reiterates that PIS, as the scientifically Supreme Institutional Body of the medical community of Cyprus and the Scientific Companies, strongly recommends vaccination against Covid-19 disease.
It also continues with strong scientific documentation to bolster the state's efforts to stem the new phase of the pandemic.
It also notes that "mass vaccination and the strengthening of the programme is currently the strongest weapon we have in our hands."
