Drivers and passengers on public transport must present a SafePass starting from Tuesday, the transport ministry has clarified.
The ministry issued a written statement with the recent guidelines for public transport, in line with a health ministry decree to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Under the decree people employed in public transport such us buses, taxis, or buses used for shuttle services to and from airports, as well as passengers aged 12 and over, must be in possession of a SafePass.
This means they must have proof they have been vaccinated with at least one dose against Covid-19 the minimum three weeks prior, or that they have recovered from the virus in the last six months, or a negative coronavirus test no older than 72-hours.
Tourists must present their Cyprus Flight Card (CyprusFlightPass), in an electronic or printed form.
Persons who are not permanent residents but have entered the republic legally through the legal points of entry must present either proof provided by the administrator of the Marina in which they dock, or disembarkation card secured in the case of cruise ship passengers, or a European Union Digital Certificate COVID (EU Digital Covid Certificate).
Companies operating in public transport, must inform passengers of the guidelines and put up an announcement in a visible place on their premises, at stations and inside the vehicle (buses and taxis).
The ministry also reiterated that the use of a face mask by employees and passengers is mandatory.
