The Ministry of Health announces that today, July 20, 2021, a person has lost his life due to coronavirus, while 995 are positive cases of the disease.
specifically:
- One person died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 391.
- 231 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 59 are in serious condition. 90% of nurses have no history of vaccination.
- A total of 67,331 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 995 (positivity rate: 1.48%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 93,247.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:
One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:
- Male, aged 76, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 391, of which:
- 260 men (67%), and
- 131 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.2 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 231 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 59 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 59 patients in serious condition, 23 are intubated in an Intensive Care Unit and 36 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 67,331 diagnoses currently carried out, 7,704 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 59,627 using the antigen rapid test, 995 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 104 cases from 529 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 12 cases from 2,421 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 240 cases from 4,170 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 26 cases from 282 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case of 302 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and Special Teams Control through Public Health Clinics.
- 56 cases from 1,887 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 556 cases from 57,740 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
