952 NEW CASES, WEDNESDAY

More than 950 new positive cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the last 24 hours in Cyprus, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

specifically:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 380.
  • 93 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 27 of whom are in serious condition.
  • A total of 44,045 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 952 (positivity rate: 2.16%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 80,588.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 380, of which:

  • 254 men (67%), and
  • 126 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 93 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 27 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 27 patients in serious condition, 10 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 15 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 44,045 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,144 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 37,901 using the antigen rapid test, 952 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 109 cases from 660 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 6 cases from 2,164 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 144 cases from 2,887 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 12 cases from 190 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 17 cases from 448 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 664 cases from 37,453 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 243 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
