858 NEW CASES AND ONE DEATH, SUNDAY

An 86-year-old woman has been the new victim of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, while the Ministry of Health has announced another 859 new positive cases.

specifically:

  • One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 385.
  • 218 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 55 of whom are in serious condition. 91.3% of nurses have no history of vaccination.
  • A total of 70,809 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 858 (positivity rate: 1.21%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 91,196.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Woman, aged 86, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 385, of which:

  • 256 men (66.5%), and
  • 129 women (33.5%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 218 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 55 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 55 patients in serious condition, 20 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 34 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 70,809 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,755 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 64,054 using the antigen rapid test, 858 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 14 cases from 4,223 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 75 cases from 2,425 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 9 cases from 107 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 60 cases from 1,805 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 700 cases from 62,249 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
