The Ministry of Health announces that today, July 27, 2021, six people have died from COVID-19, while 791 are new cases of the disease. At the same time, 292 patients were hospitalized.
specifically:
- Six people died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 410.
- 292 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 80 of whom are in serious condition. 88% of nurses have no history of vaccination.
- A total of 65,063 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 791 (positivity rate: 1.22%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 99,360.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The six people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Man, aged 81, who ended up yesterday at Larnaca General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 86, who ended up yesterday at Famagusta General Hospital.
- Man, aged 78, who ended up yesterday at Famagusta General Hospital.
- Male, aged 77, who ended up yesterday in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 67, who ended up on 24 July in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Woman, aged 80, who ended up today at Famagusta General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 410, of which:
- 269 men (66%), and
- 141 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.3 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 292 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 80 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 80 patients in serious condition, 34 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 42 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 65,063 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,693 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 58,370 using the antigen rapid test, 791 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 62 cases from 454 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 13 cases from 2,590 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 192 cases out of 3,238 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 22 cases from 183 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 33 cases from 1,057 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 469 cases out of 57,313 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 228 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
