635 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS, FRIDAY

Three dead and 635 new cases of COVID-19 disease announced today by the Ministry of Health.

Three people died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 419.

279 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 85 of whom are in serious condition. 90% of nurses have no history of vaccination.

A total of 74,122 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

635 (positivity rate: 0.86%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 101,419.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The three people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • Man, aged 59, who ended up yesterday in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Woman, aged 77, who ended up today at Limassol General Hospital.
  • Man, aged 83, who ended up today at Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 419, of which:

  • 274 men (65%), and
  • 145 women (35%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.2 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 279 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 85 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 85 patients in serious condition, 36 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 47 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 74,122 diagnoses currently carried out, 7,603 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 66,519 using the antigen rapid test, 635 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 7 cases from 3,676 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 147 cases out of 3,707 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 26 cases from 220 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 47 cases from 2,963 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 408 cases from 63,556 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.

106 incidents in the occupied territories

One hundred and six new Covid-19 incidents were recorded on Friday in the occupied territories, after 27,898 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours, according to the "ministry of health".

Seven involve people who arrived from abroad, 16 are contacts of confirmed cases, 83 are infections in the community. Of these, 28 were located in Nicosia, 15 in Kyrenia, 21 in Famagusta, 4 in Morfou, 1 in Lefka and 4 in Trikomou.

The total number of deaths from coronavirus amounts to 40 and the total number of cases to 11445.
