The Ministry of Health announces that today, 4 July 2021, one person died due to coronavirus, while 577 are the new positive cases.
specifically:
- One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 379.
- 71 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 19 are in serious condition.
- A total of 45,848 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 577 (positivity rate: 1.26%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 78,022.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:
- Woman, aged 93, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 379, of which:
- 254 men (67%), and
- 125 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.3 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 71 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 19 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 19 patients in serious condition, nine are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and six are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 45,848 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,498 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 39,350 using the antigen rapid test, 577 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 4 cases from 86 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 9 cases of 3,822 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 53 cases from 2,286 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 4 cases from 54 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 5 cases from 250 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
- 12 cases from 311 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 490 cases from 39,039 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
