The upward trend of new cases of coronavirus continues, after the Ministry of Health today announced 529 positive cases in the last 24 hours.
specifically:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 378.
- 54 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 20 are in serious condition.
- A total of 45,212 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 529 (positivity rate: 1.17%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 76,862.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 378, of which:
- 254 men (67%), and
- 124 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 54 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 20 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 20 patients in serious condition, seven are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 10 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 45,212 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,531 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 38,681 using the antigen rapid test, 529 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 9 cases of 3,096 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 65 cases out of 3,203 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 14 cases from 232 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 18 cases from 561 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 423 cases from 38,120 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
