1,120 NEW CASES AND ONE DEATH, WEDNESDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today, July 14, 2021, one person died of coronavirus, while 1,120 are new cases of the disease.

specifically:

  • One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 383.

  • 165 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 40 are in serious condition.

  • A total of 62,656 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

  • 1,120 (positivity rate: 1.79%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 87,305.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Woman, aged 56, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 383, of which:

  • 256 men (67%), and
  • 127 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.2 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 165 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 40 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 40 patients in serious condition, 16 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 22 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 62,656 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,136 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 56,520 using the antigen rapid test, 1,120 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 169 cases from 1,132 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 6 cases from 1,654 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 210 cases from 2,686 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 20 cases from 439 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 225 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 42 cases from 1,091 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 671 cases from 55,429 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
