In a new normality, the procedures for registering in the Register of Job Applicants of the Public Employment Service for employment are also returned due to the lifting of restrictions. In particular, active registrations by jobseekers from tomorrow Tuesday stop being done automatically and should be made online, while new registrations will be available online.
This new regularity differs from the practice followed in the past, but also from what has been in place since last year due to the pandemic, since technology enters for good and in the way the Department of Labour of the Ministry of Labour works. It should be noted that registration with the Labour Offices is the first action to be taken by someone who has lost the job, but also the first act for jobseekers in general.
From tomorrow Tuesday, the 15th of the month, as announced by the Department of Labour, the transition of the Public Employment Service (DSA) to online processes is actually beginning. As a result, Cypriot and European citizens as well as citizens of third countries who have access to the labour market of the Republic of Cyprus, including asylum seekers and: (a) are available for work, (b) actively seeking work and (c) have reached the age of 15, can be registered in the IMS Register of Job Seekers for job search and counselling through the DYA's online platform. In addition, also from tomorrow Tuesday, those who maintain active registration in the Register of Job Applicants of the DYA will have to renew their registration through the platform again, since the automatic renewals of the registrations started due to the pandemic from 17/3/2020 stop.
Access to the Internet Platform is done using codes generated by the platform. According to the Department of Labour, passwords for the purpose of renewing existing records will be transmitted via SMS within a reasonable period of time before the renewal period set five days before the registration expiration date. On the occasion of these changes, the Department of Labour invites job applicants who have changed their telephone number to inform the DYA officials immediately in order to enable the relevant information to be transmitted. In order for the new digital regularity to which the DYA goes to run smoothly, the Department of Labour through the website has published e-mail addresses to which the various job applicants can apply for assistance.
