One step from its implementation is now the great environmental and social work of Paphos, the creation of two Linear Parks that will surround the city, upgrading the environment and improving aesthetic and functional points degraded to date.
The study on the creation of the two parks has been completed and presented in public since last summer and everything is now ready for the... transport of major environmental work on the ground, literally.
The Mayor of Paphos spoke of one of the most important projects for the city of Paphos, but also for the Municipality of Geroskipou and the communities of the peri-urban area to which the Linear Parks will extend.
The two natural streams that flow east and west of the city of Paphos, pointed out Phaedon Phaedon, constitute the natural border of the Municipality of Paphos with the Municipality of Geroskipou and the communities. The total 14.5 km of the route that the parks will form, he stressed, will be given to citizens for use, both as a bike path and as a pedestrian street.
"On the 14.5 km route," he announced, "playgrounds, outdoor gyms, rest areas, dog parks, playgrounds and two small cafes will be created.
The citizen who will go through all of these two Linear Parks and the coastal pedestrian street, will be able to walk 20 kilometres in front of the sea and in a natural environment".
The project will cost about €7.5 million, he said, while with an enriched version with basketball, tennis and more, it will reach €10 to 11 million.
