'CHAIN' OF CROWN INCIDENTS FROM ALUMNI PARTIES AND WEDDINGS

 Filenews 24 June 2021

After some time, two chains of coronavirus carriers have been identified in recent days, according to information from the Ministry of Health.

Specifically, the 1st concerns a "chain" of transmission from a high school alumni party in Nicosia province and has 17 people, all students, aged 14-15 years. Looks like it started with a person who had symptoms on the day of the party.

The 2nd concerns a chain of weddings held in Nicosia, with 6 incidents. As the Ministry informs, a list of guests from the wedding (approximately 350 people) is expected to be sent, while the investigation continues to identify the case "0".

The Ministry points out that 'of the two chains it appears that the measures and health protocols are not applied faithfully, particularly at social events, which by their nature are considered high risk. Despite the lifting of many measures, the risk of transmission still exists and it is therefore necessary to implement the health protocols. Also, what is observed - not only by the two clusters - is the phenomenon of cases not informing their contacts in time or not declaring contacts in the Tracing Group".

In the meantime, the Minister of Health, Konstantinos Ioannou, is calling on young people to use the vaccine, the only weapon we have to deal with, pointing out that it is worrying that in recent days there has been an increase in the hospitalizations of young people who develop severe symptoms and require special hospitalization.
