76 NEW CASES, FRIDAY

76 (positivity rate: 0.18%) new cases of COVID-19 have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, currently in Cyprus, bringing the total number of cases to 73,520.

No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 378.

A total of 41,891 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

45 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 18 of whom are in serious condition.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 378, of which:

  • 254 men (67%), and
  • 124 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 45 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 18 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 18 patients in serious condition, 10 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and seven are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 41,891 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,844 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 35,047 using the antigen rapid test, 76 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 13 cases from 293 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 12 cases from 3,912 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 8 cases from 2,374 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 2 cases from 205 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 441 samples examined using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 40 cases from 34,606 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 60 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
