65 NEW CASES THURSDAY

The new cases of coronavirus announced today by the Ministry of Health are recorded at 65.

At the same time, no deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 374.

  • 41 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 15 of whom are in serious condition.
  • A total of 34,157 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 65 (positivity rate: 0.19%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 73,444.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 374, of which:

  • 251 men (67%), and
  • 123 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 41 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 15 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 15 patients in serious condition, eight are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and six are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 34,157 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,903 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 27,254 using the antigen rapid test, 65 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 8 cases from 137 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 14 cases from 3,552 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 11 cases from 2,937 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 2 cases from 208 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 339 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 28 cases from 26,915 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 69 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
