The Ministry of Health announces that today, 10 June 2021, four people have died due to coronavirus, while 59 are new cases.
specifically:
- Four people have died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 371.
- 47 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 17 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 37,664 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 59 (positivity rate: 0.16%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 73,055.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The four people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Male, aged 61, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 82, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 68, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Man, aged 93, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 371, of which:
- 248 men (67%), and
- 123 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.4 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 47 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 17 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 17 patients in serious condition, nine are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and six are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 37,664 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,210 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 32,454 using the antigen rapid test, 59 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 5 cases from 164 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 11 cases from 3,049 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 11 cases from 1,570 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 5 cases from 319 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 27 cases from 32,064 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 108 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
- 390 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
