A new death of a patient with coronavirus was announced Thursday by the Ministry of Health, bringing the total number of deaths to 362.
At the same time 58 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 21 are in serious condition.
At the same time, a total of 43,163 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
Another 53 (positivity rate: 0.12%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 72,626.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:
- Woman, aged 73, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 362, of which:
- 240 men (66%), and
- 122 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.5 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 58 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 21 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 21 patients in serious condition, 12 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and six are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 43,163 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,325 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 37,838 using the antigen rapid test, 53 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 8 cases from 103 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 3 cases from 3,300 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 11 cases from 1,468 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 3 cases from 244 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 2 cases from 456 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 26 cases from 37,382 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 103 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
- 107 samples taken from the residents of Kato Pyrgos, Tylliria.
