42 NEW CASES AND ONE DEATH, SATURDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today, June 12, 2021, a patient died of coronavirus, while the new cases are 42.

specifically:

  • One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 373.
  • 33 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 13 of whom are in serious condition.
  • A total of 43,502 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 42 (positivity rate: 0.10%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 73,157.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Male, aged 68, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 373, of which:

  • 250 men (67%), and
  • 123 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 33 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 13 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 13 patients in serious condition, six are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and five are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 43,502 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,044 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 38,458 using the antigen rapid test, 42 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 1 case of 37 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 4 cases from 2,942 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 10 cases from 1,975 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 2 cases from 474 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 25 cases from 37,984 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 48 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 42 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
