41 NEW CASES, SATURDAY

No deaths were recorded today due to coronavirus, and only 41 positive cases of the virus were reported.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Health:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 363.
  • 45 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 18 of whom are in serious condition.
  • A total of 49,462 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 41 (positivity rate: 0.08%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 72,750.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 363, of which:

  • 241 men (66%), and
  • 122 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 45 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 18 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 18 patients in serious condition, 11 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and six are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 49,462 diagnoses currently carried out, 4,906 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 44,556 using the antigen rapid test, 41 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

• 1 case of 26 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.

• 15 cases from 2,277 samples taken through a private initiative.

• 2 cases from 679 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.

• 23 cases from 43,877 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

• 2,437 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.

• 66 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.

• 47 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.

• 53 samples taken from the residents of Kato Pyrgos, Tylliria.
