314 NEW CASES, MONDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today, 28 June 2021, no deaths from coronavirus were recorded, while 314 are new cases of COVID-19.

specifically:

- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 378.

- 54 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 17 of whom are in serious condition.

- A total of 37,546 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

- 314 (positivity rate: 0.84%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 75,099.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 378, of which:

- 254 men (67%), and

- 124 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 54 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 17 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 17 patients in serious condition, seven are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and eight are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 37,546 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,221 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 31,325 using the antigen rapid test, 314 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 28 cases from 368 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 9 cases from 4,115 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 32 cases from 1,423 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 16 cases from 304 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 6 cases from 431 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 223 cases from 30,894 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 11 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
