216 NEW CASES, SUNDAY

At the same level as yesterday's new cases of coronavirus, with the number rising to over 200 and the positivity rate hovering near O.50%.

Specifically 216 (positivity rate: 0.56%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified from 38,787 tests - molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 74,785.

The rate of positivity recorded in the rapid tests in Famagusta Province is higher than in the other provinces, as it exceeds by far 1%.

A positive element remains that no patient deaths were recorded today, with COVID-19 as the cause of death, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 378.

It is also noted that 50 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 18 of whom are in serious condition.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 378, of which:

- 254 men (67%), and

- 124 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 50 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 18 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 18 patients in serious condition, eight are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and eight are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 38,787 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,276 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 33,511 using the antigen rapid test, 216 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 5 cases from 32 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 5 cases from 3,890 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 26 cases from 1,036 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 3 cases from 58 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 4 cases from 141 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 173 cases from 33,370 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 260 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
