With vaccinations progressing quite rapidly, Cyprus is at the same level as other mainland European countries, such as Germany and France.
The course of vaccinations in our country naturally depends on the quantities of vaccines available that the European Union regularly sends. It should be noted that, according to the latest measurements of the Ministry of Health, vaccinations have exceeded 268,000, of which about 67,000 are with both doses and the rest with one dose.
In recent days there has been an unprecedented strong interest from citizens, who have rushed to make their appointments in order to proceed with vaccinations. It was noteworthy that on Holy Thursday, the Vaccination Portal recorded strong mobility, with the Ministry of Health making additional appointments available. It should be noted that up to 14,000 vaccinations are carried out daily, while our country has exceeded the coverage target of 45 years originally set for the month of April and already the vaccination coverage has progressed to the age group of 30-39. Similarly on Big Saturday, the Minister of Health in a statement expressed his satisfaction with the response of citizens to vaccinations, stressing that so far they have been vaccinated with at least the 1st dose of more than 218,000 people which is almost 30%.
According to the ourworldindata.org Cyprus shows a steady upward trend in relation to the total number of vaccination doses administered per 100,000 people in the total population. As shown in the table, it is very close to other countries larger in population, such as Germany, France and Greece. But there is also a big difference in relation to countries such as Israel and Malta, which have exceeded 50%.
With regard to the share of the total population that received at least one dose of vaccine, the exact same picture is observed.
With regard to vaccinations of citizens with both doses, the percentage of Cyprus is quite close to the rest of the countries, but it is quite low.
