STABBING IN CHLORAKAS OVER FINANCIAL DISPUTE

Filenews 22 May 2021 - by Dora Christodoulou

The delay in the repayment of borrowed money appears to be the cause of an incident with the stabbing of a person on Friday night in the area of Chloraka. According to police investigations, the perpetrator is said to be an Egyptian who has been arrested and taken into custody, while the victim is a Syrian, who was wounded with a knife, fortunately lightly.

According to the Police, the incident took place at the victim's place of residence, where the Egyptian went and strongly asked the Syrian to return to him money that he had lent him and which the alleged perpetrator believed the Syrian was avoiding returning.

An argument ensued, during which the Egyptian pulled out a knife, hitting the Syrian's head and just above the left eye.

The victim of the attack was taken by other people to Paphos Hospital, where he was treated for trauma and given the necessary treatment, with doctors assessing that the condition does not raise concerns for his life.  He left the Hospital later that evening by signing the relevant form for departure on his own initiative.

The Egyptian was arrested by the Police, who were meanwhile called to the scene of the incident and taken into custody.

Investigations into what happened are ongoing.
