Research from Hadassah University Hospital in Israel has shown that neither the COVID-19 vaccine nor COVID-19 itself have harmful effects on women's fertility.
According to the researchers, led by Dr Anat Hershko, director of the IVF Unit in Hadassah, such research has already been carried out for the first time, which has already been published in medRxiv.
This preliminary survey involved 32 women, who were divided into three groups. The first group consisted of vaccinated women, the second of women who had the disease and recovered, and the third of women who did not have any exposure to the coronavirus.
As the researchers explain, they examined each woman's follicle fluid, which is sucked together with the egg during the fertilization process. They did not detect any alteration of this fluid in women who had COVID-19, nor in those vaccinated.
Dr . Hershko notes, "This liquid is a very good source of research into the egg environment, since it can be analysed at a hormonal level and tested for certain proteins which, according to the medical literature, are good indications as to the quality of the egg.". He added, "We were very pleased to find that the vaccine did not harm the follicle's performance at all."
