Cyprus still counts two dead from COVID-19 with the death toll rising to 336. At the same time, 269 new incidents were announced on Sunday. The positivity rate is 0.24% while 224 patients are hospitalized, 62 of whom are in serious condition.
A statement from the Ministry of Health states that the total number of COVID-19 cases now stands at 69,432.
A total of 109,846 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests were carried out on Sunday.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Woman, aged 79, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 82, with a history of vaccination, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 336, of which:
- 221 men (66%), and
- 115 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 224 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 62 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 62 patients in serious condition, 32 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 27 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 109,846 diagnoses currently carried out, 7,110 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 102,736 using the antigen rapid test, 269 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 11 cases from 668 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 3 cases of 4,522 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 50 cases from 1,273 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 10 cases from 647 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 2 cases from 283 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 193 cases from 102,453 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
