The most stringent measures are being taken at the entrance gates of the Republic of Cyprus in Europe, Health Minister Konstantinos Ioannou said in a statement to the Third Programme of the RIK. At the same time, he stressed that the measure of mandatory use of a protective mask indoors would not be removed.
At the same time, he stressed that Cyprus is going through the best period since the onset of the pandemic, but indicated that complacency is dangerous and again appealed to citizens to continue to respect self-protection measures. He stressed that Cyprus is in the top four countries in Europe in vaccination coverage of the population with the first dose of the crown virus vaccine.
Mr Ioannou expressed the view that for a long time, the measure of mandatory use of a protective mask in the interiors would not be removed.
He also said that those who did the first dose with AstraZeneca should proceed to the second dose with the same vaccine.
He assured that there is no risk for those who did not experience serious side effects during the first dose of the vaccine.
At the same time, he stressed that the Ministry of Health's recommendation to prefer an MRNA vaccine to people under the age of 50 was made to increase public confidence in the vaccination plan.
The Health Secretary expressed concern about the Indian mutation and the problems it is already causing in the UK. However, he suggested that all the measures achieve is to delay rather than prevent the virus from entering.
