FIRE HELICOPTERS FROM RUSSIA ARRIVED IN PAPHOS

With a stopover in Rhodes, the two Kamov 27 fire helicopters from Russia arrived yesterday afternoon at Paphos airport, which will strengthen the Republic's firefighting forces again this year under the service acquisition contract signed for another year with the owner company.

With the two helicopters were 20 people who will make up their crews and the rest of the technical staff. Kamov 27 will be immediately on full alert for the start of operational operations that will last until 14 November.

The two helicopters are known to have their base at Paphos airport, from where they operate under the coordination of the Fire Department, while the administrative responsibility under the contract belongs to the Department of Forests.
