390 NEW CASES, AND TWO DEATHS - WEDNESDAY

Two dead and 390 new cases announced today Tuesday by the Ministry of Health. 189 patients of COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the OKYP.

Two people have died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 339.

189 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 57 are in serious condition.

A total of 65,548 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

390 (positivity rate: 0.59%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 70,098.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • Man, aged 77, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Male, aged 62, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 339, of which 224 are men (66%), and 115 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.8 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 189 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 57 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 57 patients in serious condition, 32 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 21 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 65,548 diagnoses currently carried out, 7,113 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 58,435 using the antigen rapid test, 390 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 117 cases out of 3,529 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 109 cases out of 2,786 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 10 cases from 420 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 378 samples taken under the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 32 cases from 2,564 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 120 cases from 55,871 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

33 new incidents in the occupied territories

Thirty-three new COVID-19 incidents were announced Tuesday in the occupied territories out of a total of 9,010 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

In a statement, the "ministry of health" said one incident involved a passenger from abroad, 8 were contacts of confirmed cases and 24 were infections within the community.

17 come from Nicosia, 5 from Kyrenia, one incident comes from Famagusta and one from Morfos. The total number of CASES OF COVID-19 in the occupied territories amounts to 6,750 while 33 people have lost their lives to the disease.
