In view of the implementation from Monday, 10 May, of the decision to provide a safe pass for the transition to busy places, the following are recalled:
- Citizens may present one of the following evidence:
- Vaccination certificate with at least one dose and after 3 weeks have passed. Citizens may present the Vaccination Card given at the Vaccination Centres, or
- Proof that a person has been sick with COVID-19 disease in the last 6 months. Citizens may present the release text message or recovery text message sent to them by the Ministry of Health on their mobile phone, or
- If one of the above does not apply, and as a temporary solution, citizens aged 12 years and over are given the option to present a certificate of negative test, PCR or rapid test, valid for 72 hours. For example, if the test was done on Sunday at 10 a.m. it would be valid until Wednesday at 10 a.m. Citizens may present either the form given to them by the various sampling points (see below) or the text message sent to their mobile phone with the result of the examination. It is clarified that certificates from antibody tests or self-testing will not be accepted.
2. Where point 1 (ii) above applies, the following shall be specified:
- A case of coronavirus is considered to be a person who has been diagnosed positive for SARS-CoV -2 in a molecular test (PCR test) or an antigen rapid test from:
- a clinical laboratory that has verified the process of carrying out the diagnostic methodology that detects the genetic material of the virus (RT-RCR), or
- mobile rapid test sampling unit through the Ministry of Health programme, or
- clinical laboratory that meets the specifications of the Ministry of Health for conducting a rapid antigen test.
- A person diagnosed as a case of coronavirus should be registered with the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (MNE) of the Ministry of Health within a reasonable period of time from the day of issue of the result.
- Cases reported to the MEE shall be registered and released on the basis of a protocol either following the actions of their Personal Physician or by the MEE Release Team (if there is no Personal Physician).
- Persons registered in the MEE file who have been sick with COVID-19 disease in the last 6 months, regardless of whether they have received a release SMS at the end of their quarantine, will receive SMS again with proof of recovery until tomorrow, May 9, in the evening. The recovery SMS will indicate the period of validity of the receipt. The text message may be presented in case of a check. For individuals, such as minors or elderly people who do not have a personal mobile phone, the SMS will be sent to the mobile phone of the parent/guardian or representative of the person registered in the system.
- Those who have been diagnosed as positive cases, have been released but have not received SMS either at the end of their quarantine, nor until tomorrow night, should complete the declaration attached and send it as soon as possible to contacttracing2@moh.gov.cy. The request will be considered and within a reasonable period of time there will be communication from the IE Tracing Team for further guidance.
It is recalled that evidence must be provided at the following premises:
- Dining areas (restaurants, cafes, bars, snack bars, etc.)
- Places of religious worship
- Outdoor and closed theatres, cinemas and performing arts or theatres
- Shopping malls and department stores
- Social events such as weddings, christenings and funerals
- Gyms, dance schools and schools of other sports, for those who work out indoors
- Nursing homes, shelters for the elderly, shelters for chronically ill people and other closed structures
- Hotels and tourist accommodation
- Pre-election gatherings in theatres/amphitheatres, dining areas
- Conferences, trade fairs

The production of evidence is not mandatory for going to the following areas:
- Hairdressers, beauty salons
- Banks
- Departments/Services for the public, public and wider public sectors
- Gambling and betting businesses
- Popular markets, supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, fish shops, fruit shops, mini-markets, kiosks, pharmacies
- Beaches
- Outdoor excursions, dams and zoos.
Only the Officers of the Police or the competent Ministries/Departments are responsible for checking the possession of evidence according to the undertakings falling within their areas of competence. Business/premises managers are not responsible for checking the evidence and citizens are not required to present the evidence in their possession to unauthorised persons.
