The flagship of the French fleet, the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, sailed to Limassol port today. Charles de Gaulle's arrival and stay in Limassol highlights the special ties and the excellent level of cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and France.
It is noted that, early this morning, the national guard ship "Ioannidis" sailed from the Naval Base in Marie and then was united with the Naval Strike Force (CTF 473). He then escorted the French aircraft carrier to its arrival at the port of Limassol.
On the occasion of the presence of the Naval Strike Force, in the next period in the maritime area of the Eastern Mediterranean, the National Guard has scheduled with the French Navy aeronautical exercises in which personnel and means of the Navy Command and the Air Command of OHIM will take part. These activities are part of the implementation of the bilateral defence cooperation programme between the Republic of Cyprus and France.
