91 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - SATURDAY

One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 353, while another 91 cases of coronavirus have been identified from 61,609 tests.

One person has died and 115 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 44 of whom are in serious condition.

A total of 61,609 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

91 (positivity rate: 0.15%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 71,836.

Here are today's results in detail:

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

Woman, aged 95, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 353, of which:

234 men (66%), and

119 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.5 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 115 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 44 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 44 patients in serious condition, 28 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 14 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 61,609 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,051 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 56,558 using the antigen rapid test, 91 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 18 cases from 280 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 3 cases from 2,699 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 7 cases from 1,829 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 5 cases from 1,238 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 58 cases from 55,320 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 68 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 162 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 13 samples taken from the residents of Kato Pyrgos, Tylliria.
