436 NEW CASES AND ONE DEATH, SATURDAY

Another man died from the coronavirus while another 463 new positive cases were announced.

Specific:

  • One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 313.
  • 274 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 71 are in serious condition. The median age of the hospitalized is 58.6 years.
  • A total of 31,677 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 463 (positivity rate: 1.46%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 66,372.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Male, aged 80, with a history of vaccination (1st dose), who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 313, of which:

  • 206 men (66%), and
  • 107 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 274 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P.S. hospitals, 71 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 71 patients critical, 29 are intubated, eight are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 34 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 31,677 diagnoses currently carried out, 7,076 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 24,601 using the antigen rapid test, 463 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

• 43 cases from 671 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.  • 3 cases of 3,230 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.                • 128 cases from 3,019 samples taken through a private initiative.                                                           • 11 cases from 142 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.      • 11 cases from 190 samples examined using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.                                                                                                                                                  • 267 cases from 24,411 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

• 14 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
