VACCINE PORTAL OPENS 5 APRIL - For those who actively use biological agents or other immunosuppressive drugs [see comments in red re those using these 'on request']

 Filenews 4 April 2021

On the basis of the vaccination plan for COVID-19, the Ministry of Health continues to implement the National Vaccination Plan, having made vaccination coverage of people in groups with an increased risk of serious disease a top priority.

According to the hierarchy established by the ad hoc Committee set up for this purpose, priority for vaccination will be given to individuals who actively use biological agents or other immunosuppressive drugs.

Individuals in the above categories should proceed with their vaccination planning, through the Vaccination Portal, from Monday, April 5, at 8 a.m., until Tuesday, April 6, at 7 p.m. The appointment to be arranged will be rescheduled for the same type of vaccine, if necessary for medical reasons, by their attending physician, with appropriate justification.

The Vaccination Portal will operate in the usual way and stakeholders will be informed of the type of vaccine available at each Vaccination Centre. Available will be 5,891 vaccination appointments with the vaccines of Pfizer and AstraZeneca.

Please note that the correct registration of patients' medical data in the GHS Software by the treating physicians is a prerequisite. Patients who have priority for vaccination are informed by text message on the mobile phone registered in their personal folder in the GHS Software.

For technical reasons, patients receiving biological agents upon request and nominal approval by the Pharmaceutical Services will be able to obtain an appointment for vaccination at the next opening of the Vaccination Portal. Patients will then receive different treatment and information in continuous and high doses of corticosteroids.

In the case ofpatients who are not beneficiaries of the GHS or who receive medicinal products falling within these categories privately , they will be given priority for vaccination, on the basis of the above criteria, following a certificate from their attending physician and sending a request to the e-mail address emvoliasmos.eidikes@moh.gov.cy, where the patient's interest in vaccination will be expressed, the Identification Number/Identification Document Number, contact number, will be indicated to belong to the group of persons actively using biological agents or other immunosuppressive medicines and the relevant certificate of the treating physician will be attached.

Up to 3 April, 161,526 vaccinations were carried out, 114,660 were for the administration of the 1st dose and 46,866 for both doses. In the 1st dose they received 6,374 people belonging to the vulnerable groups, 521 bedridden persons, while vaccination began in the closed structures and 158 people in the Central Prisons were vaccinated with the 1st dose.
