Revenues from the GSY's contributions, amounting to €840 million, were in 2020 from the Health Insurance Agency (2020), said the Agency's Chief Operating Officer Angelos Topis, who at the same time said that spending on health services amounted to about €780m last year.
With regard to inpatient care alone, which came into effect in June 2020, Mr Topis said that this amounted from June 2020 to the end of last year to €175m.
In more detail, Mr. Topis said that the OAC had revenues in 2020 of €840 million from the contributions of the approximately 855,000 beneficiaries of the GHS, while revenues were also from supplements and contributions, amounting to €35 million.
The Senior Officer of the OAC said that the revenue from contributions is slowly recovering as the Cypriot economy recovers as they rely on workers' wages.
"Over a three-year period when there is also expected to be a full recovery of the economy and the effects of the pandemic removed, our fund seems to be sustainable," he stressed.

He noted that spending on inpatient care amounted to €88m in the first two months of 2021.
