A significant increase in the weekly positivity rate is noted through the data of the National Report on coronavirus, in the data of the last 14 days in most provinces. At the same time, admissions to hospitals by residents in Limassol Province are decreasing and there is an increase in the provinces of Nicosia and Larnaca, while the average age of nurses is falling due to vaccination coverage at older ages.

Positivity rate:
The growth momentum of the epidemic is maintained, as there is an increase in the weekly positivity rate. More specifically, through the program of rapid tests of the Ministry there is an increase this week in most Provinces: Nicosia from 0.6% to 0.7%, Limassol firmly to 0.9%, Larnaca from 0.8% to 1.1%, Paphos steadily to 0.6% and Famagusta from 0.6% to 0.8%.
In nursing homes the positivity rate has remained consistently low between 0.1% and 0.2% since the end of January.
The playback number remains greater than 1:1.10.
Introductions to Hospitals
In relation to hospitalizations, as shown in the chart below, there is a decrease in imports from residents in Limassol Province while there is an increasing trend from the Provinces of Larnaca and Nicosia.
The chart below shows the increasing trend in hospital admissions at ages with less vaccination coverage (<64 years). It is recalled that at the ages of 80 and over vaccination coverage reached 83%, while in the 70-79 age group vaccination coverage reached 79%. The shielding of older ages offered by vaccination is reflected in the reduction of hospitalizations in these age groups. The average age of the hospitalized is 62 years as well as those hospitalized in the Intensive Care Units.
Incident numbers per 100 thousand inhabitants
The burden is very high in Cyprus, with a cumulative impact of 749.5/100,000, very close to the historically higher price in the pandemic. The largest increase is observed in the Province of Larnaca and Nicosia. The cumulative impact of individual provinces is as follows:
- Famagusta: 445.8/100,000 from 353.8/100,000
- Larnaca: 773.2/100,000 from 555.7/100.000
- Limassol: 934,4/100,000 from 899,7/100,000
- Nicosia: 693,1/100,000 from 524,2/100,000
- Paphos: 478/100,000 from 359.5/100,000
Encouragingly, the cumulative impact on the ages of 70 and over, where significant vaccination coverage has been achieved, is much lower than for younger ages.
- 0-19 years old: 742.8/100,000
- 20-59 years old: 878.8/100,000
- 60-69 years old: 587.7/100,000
- 70-79 years old: 277,1/100,000
- 80 years of age and older: 232.8/100,000
The highest rate of deaths with the underlying cause of death of COVID-19 concerns people with permanent residence in Limassol Province (38%) and then Nicosia Province (33%).
