 Filenews 6 April 2021

Two plans for the installation or replacement of an integrated solar water heating system and solar panels, as well as for the thermal insulation of ceilings and the installation of photovoltaic systems, at a cost of 390 thousand euros, and more than 7 million euros, respectively, were approved today by the Council of Ministers. The two plans will be announced early next week and run until September 2021 or until a certain number of applications are submitted.

In statements after the Cabinet meeting, the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, Natasha Pelidou, said that two sponsorship projects were approved by the Renewable Energy And Energy Saving Fund (RES and EXE) of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry.

According to Ms. Pelidou, the first project concerns the installation or replacement of an integrated solar water heating system and the installation or replacement of solar panels. Sponsorship amounts for this project are doubled for homes located in mountain areas, based on the postcode granted by the Commissioner for Mountain Development. The total budget of the approved project is 390 thousand euros and this plan will be announced within the next week, early next week, and will run until September 1, 2021 or until the final submission of 1000 applications covering the amount approved, the Energy Minister said.

He added that the second project concerns the thermal insulation of ceilings and the installation of photovoltaic systems. For the thermal insulation of ceilings the category provides for financing of up to 30% of the eligible costs, while for the thermal insulation of ceilings in combination with the installation of a photovoltaic system the funding reaches 35%, and there is also special coverage for vulnerable consumers, as well as for the installation of a photovoltaic system using the method of offsetting measurements in existing dwellings.

Ms Pelidou said the eligible amounts for this category amounted to 3,750 euros for vulnerable consumers, compared to a maximum sponsorship amount of 1,000 euros for non-vulnerable consumers. This plan will also be announced early next week, and the amount exceeds EUR 7 million. And this plan will run until September or until a certain number of applications are submitted, and has retroactive effect for projects carried out after 9/6/2020, he noted.
