One of the most well-known and abandoned preserved buildings in the heart of the commercial center of Paphos, on Athena Street, is to be restored, maintained and able to house the services of the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance that are currently scattered in rented buildings throughout Paphos.

This is initiated with the cooperation of the competent ministries and the Municipality of Paphos, as is apparent from today's visit to the city of Minister Zeta Emilianidou. Accompanied by the Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedon, Mrs. Emilianidou visited the listed building, owned by her ministry since 1993 when it was purchased by the Social Insurance Fund.

As the Mayor of Paphos pointed out in this piece, modern buildings of four thousand square meters can be erected, while the preserved buildings will be able to house all departments and services of the ministry. Underground parking is planned under the buildings.

The Minister of Labour said today that she has already discussed the issue with the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works to promote planning and Mr Karusos, he stressed, is very positive about the prospect.

"In cooperation with the Municipality of Paphos, the aim is within the current year to prepare plans for the maintenance of the preserved and the additions that will be made," said Zeta Emilianidou.

As Zeta Emilianidou and Phaedon Phaedon pointed out, this ministry employs 90 employees in Paphos and it is estimated that the design already under promotion will bring them all together in this area, with obvious benefits for both the state and the resulting economic recovery, but also for the Municipality of Paphos due to the upgrade in the area.

Earlier, the Minister of Labour, accompanied by the Mayor and the Director of the Welfare Office Maria Kyratzis visited the Multi-Power Social Care Centre of the Municipality of Paphos, which began its operation on 15 March.

Ms. Emilianidou said she was impressed by this model project which, she said, gives the opportunity for reconciliation of family and professional life, since it will essentially help working parents. Also, he continued, in Polydynamos there is the program for old age so that our pensioners can enjoy a productive time. The Minister also welcomed what she said was the remarkable work done by the Municipality of Paphos and the Mayor and all those who contribute to what she saw and visited.

For his part, the Mayor of Paphos thanked the Minister for her decisive contribution to the approval of the fund for the financing of the Multi-Power Centre by the European Social Fund and added that in the context of the discussion he had in his Office with Mrs. Emilianidou, the additional programmes that can be "run" in The Multi-Power, in cooperation with the Welfare Office and the Ministry, were also discussed.

Mrs. Emilianidou, during today's visit to Paphos, was also guided by the Mayor to the projects carried out in recent years in the city centre and said she was impressed by the result.
