INCREASE IN POSITIVITY IN NICOSIA AND LARNACA, FALL IN LIMASSOL

Gradual stability shows the weekly positivity rate from the rapid test results, with Limassol Province recording a slight drop to 0.8%, compared to the 1% recorded so far. and Larnaca Province (0.6% from 0.4%). The contagion index moves close to 1 (0.94).

At very low levels, the weekly positivity rate in nursing homes is moving. Since the end of January it has remained consistently below 0.2%.In terms of the cumulative impact of 14 days, although it remains at a high unsafe level in all Provinces, it appears to have stabilised with a slight decrease (548.5/100.000) compared to the corresponding previous period (573.5/100.000).

In Limassol Province, there is a marked decrease, although it still remains in unsafe limits (978.7/100,000 from 1130.1/100,000). An increase is recorded in the cumulative impact of 14 days in the Provinces of Larnaca (404.7/100.000 from 328.2/100.000) and Famagusta (431.5/100.000 from 359.9/100.000).

The median age of the hospitalized was 63 years. There is a decrease in the mobile average of admissions for those under 60 and also 65-74.

On the positive side, there has been a stabilisation in recent times in the admissions of patients in the over-75 age group, which has greatly contributed to the vaccination coverage of people in this age group.

According to the data, 80.7%of people aged 80 and over have been vaccinated, while in people aged 70-79 years vaccination coverage is 70% (vaccinations at these ages are still being carried out).

Summary:

As of 30 March 2021, 44,441 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the Republic of Cyprus, with 259 deaths due to COVID-19 (COVID-19 mortality: 0.6%).

• The cumulative incidence of 14 days of COVID-19 (14-day diagnosed cases per 100,000 inhabitants) is 548.5. 

• In the last 14 days (17 - 30 March) 4,871 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded:

o The median age of COVID-19 cases was 35 years (Endo-fourth-molecular range: 22-51 years), 52.1% for women (n= 2,536) and 47.8% for men (n=2.330), while for 5 (0.1%) information was not available.

o Based on epidemiological history, 1.6% (n=78) were cases with a recent travel history, while 98.4% (n=4.793) were for domestic transmission cases.

As of March 31, 2021, 192 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized (based on registered data and including those discharged, transferred or died on that day). Their median age was 63 years (Intra-fourth-quarter range: 54 – 71 years), with 59.9% (n=115) for men and 56.3% (n=108) for people from Limassol province.

• According to the registered data, 26 people were in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - 22 were rescued. The median age of COVID-19 patients in ICU was 67 years (Intra-fourth-quarteral range: 61-75 years), while 20 cases (76.9%) men. A total of 21 people (80.8%) ICU had underlying diseases.
