CYPRUS WELCOMES RUSSIAN, ISRAELI TOURISTS. WAITS FOR UK TRAVEL UPDATE ON COVID RESTRICTIONS

 in-cyprus 5 April 20201 - by Annie Charalambous

Cyprus welcomed tourists from Israel and Russia over the weekend as it waits for UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s full-scale travel update on Covid restrictions on Monday.

From April 1, tourists from these countries vaccinated with a jab approved by the European Medical Association are not required to undergo a PCR test to travel to Cyprus. And they do not have to quarantine on the island, either.

At the same time, Nicosia is ready to welcome travellers from the UK as soon as restrictions are lifted.

A current ban on non-essential international travel from the UK will not be lifted until May 17 at the earliest.

Cyprus has introduced a colour-coded system for Covid-19 risk-assessed countries under protocols for the resumption of its tourism industry.

From May 1, all travellers who can prove they have had “the required doses of a recognised vaccine” will not be required to demonstrate a negative test or be subject to quarantine rules.

However, they may be subject to random spot-testing on particular flights.
