CURFEW AND SMS FOR TOURISTS

 Filenews 2 April 2021

The first, slow and steady steps, Cyprus took since yesterday, opening its borders for vaccinated tourists in order to come to the island, with the first arriving to hold the vaccination certificate.

For its part, the Ministry of Health makes it clear that tourists arriving in Cyprus are obliged to comply with the decrees in force. In fact, they must send sms to 8998 for exceptional travel and observe the night curfew, which is in effect from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Perdiou Optimism

Encouraging are the messages about tourism in our country with the opening of airports, the first flights from Israel and the significant interest of the Russians, according to the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Savva Perdiou, who stressed at the same time the importance of choosing the port of Limassol as a base for Royal Caribbean cruises.

"It is an opportunity for Cyprus to be placed back on the tourist map. An opportunity for our country to show all over the world and especially in our markets and in Europe that, we have prepared properly, we have realized the adversity, and we have fought so that we can inform all those who want to visit our island and live what is Cyprus, that they can come from today, without quarantine, without problems , but with their tests of course," he said.

In response to the indications of the arrival of tourists on the island, Mr Perdiou said that "numerically it is very difficult to make predictions because, while we have done everything we can to be ready and to be considered open, very little depends on us, because there are travel guidelines that prohibit travel from foreign countries. I believe this will change constantly in the coming weeks, not only because of the situation abroad but it will also depend on our epidemiological picture," he said, pointing out that "the fact is that the first flights from Israel are starting today and it is the first market which, I think, starts timidly for us".
