927 NEW CASES AND ONE DEATH, THURSDAY

Soaring again are today's positive cases of coronavirus, after reaching 927, while he lost his life due to the virus.

Specifically, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health:

  • One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 296.
  • 296 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 74 of whom are in serious condition.
  • A total of 55,566 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 927 (positivity rate: 1.67%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 59,792.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Male, aged 68, with a history of vaccination (1st dose), who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 296, of which:

  • 196 men (66%), and
  • 100 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 296 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 74 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 74 patients critical, 33 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 36 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 55,566 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,516 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 49,050 using the antigen rapid test, 927 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 124 cases from 1,111 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 1 case of 1,225 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 176 cases out of 3,424 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 60 cases from 625 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 3 cases from 131 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 24 cases from 716 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 539 cases from 48,334 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
