852 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS - Sunday

Three people have died from COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 291, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. 271 patients COVID-19 are hospitalized, of which 67 are in serious condition. A total of 59,042 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests have been carried out, of which 852 positive (positivity rate: 1.44%) have been positively detected in new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 56,259.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The three people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

- Male, aged 62, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital.

- Male, aged 92, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

- Male, aged 65, with a history of vaccination (1st dose), who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 291, of which:

- 192 men (66%), and

- 99 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 271 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 67 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 67 patients critical, 32 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 31 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 59,042 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,638 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 53,404 using the antigen rapid test, 852 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 151 cases from 1,085 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 6 cases from 1,912 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 118 cases from 2,019 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 30 cases from 406 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 216 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 6 cases from 123 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 539 cases from 53,281 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.

As shown in the table, a significant increase was recorded in the positivity rate in Larnaca, which 

stood at 1.40%, followed by Nicosia with 1.05%.
