843 (positivity rate: 1.59%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected today in Cyprus by 53,024 molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 58,865,according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health.
291 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 71 are in serious condition.
No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 295, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 295, of which:
- 195 men (66%), and
- 100 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 291 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 71 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 71 patients critical, 33 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 32 are in an Increased Care Unit.
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 53,024 diagnoses currently carried out, 4,920 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 48,104 using the antigen rapid test, 843 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 103 cases from 1,113 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 5 cases from 558 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 175 cases from 2,767 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 8 cases from 260 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 50 cases from 964 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 502 cases from 47,140 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 222 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
502 positive results were identified today from 47,140 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
As shown in the table, the positivity rate in Larnaca Province is increased, followed by Nicosia Province, followed by Paphos Province.
