760 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS, TUESDAY

Two people have died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 303, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. 

292 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 73 of whom are in serious condition. The median age of the hospitalized is 58.6 years. 760 (positivity rate: 1.77%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by 42,877 molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 63,720.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • Woman, aged 82, with a history of vaccination (1st dose), who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.
  • Man, aged 86, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 303, of which:

  • 199 men (66%), and
  • 104 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 292 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 73 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 73 patients critical, 31 are intubated, seven are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 35 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 42,877 diagnoses currently carried out, 8,297 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 34,580 using the antigen rapid test, 760 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 160 cases from 1,413 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 4 cases from 1,435 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 155 cases from 4,954 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 30 cases from 332 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 163 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
  • 37 cases from 940 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 372 cases from 33,640 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
