One dead man and 677 new cases of COVID-19 disease announced Friday by the Ministry of Health.
One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 284. 270 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 63 of whom are in serious condition.
A total of 69,068 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
677 (positivity rate: 0.98%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 54,621.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
One person who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 disease concerns a man, aged 87 years, with underlying diseases, with a history of vaccination (1st dose), who ended up in Paphos General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 284, of which 187 are men (66%), and 97 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.
A total of 270 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 63 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 63 patients critical, 31 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 26 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 69,068 diagnoses currently carried out, 4,956 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 64,112 using the antigen rapid test, 677 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 120 cases from 1,052 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 2 cases from 1,143 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 130 cases from 2,329 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 17 cases from 394 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 20 cases from 573 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 388 cases from 63,539 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 38 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
