€10m PROJECT FOR PROTECTION/IMPROVEMENT OF COAST OF PAPHOS AND GEROSKIPOU

 Filenews 2 April 2021

A project of major importance for Paphos, which exceeds €10 million, is under way to protect and improve the Southwest Coast of the Municipalities of Paphos and Geroskipou.

The Construction Competition will be launched in May and the project will be co-financed by the EU Cohesion Policy Funds.

The project will cover an area of a total length of 4 km. about, which is bounded by the Municipal Baths of Paphos in the west to the Tourist Place Geroskipou in the south. It provides for the construction of 15 wave breakers to protect the land from erosion and the increase of the sand, as well as access to the beaches.

The Mayor of Paphos Phaedon described the project as very important, especially for our tourism industry, since most of the 4 and 5 star hotels of Paphos are located in the area and noted that the expansion of the sandy beaches will substantially upgrade our tourist product, as it will offer visitors the opportunity to enjoy their holidays in the area safely and cleanly, without affecting the environment at the same time.
