The Police Announces Cyprus Traffic Controls for the use of seat belts by drivers and passengers of cars and trucks, as well as for the use of child seats.
The traffic controls, which start tomorrow Monday 08 March and will last until Sunday 14 March 2021, aim to raise public awareness, through policing, of the use of seat belts and child/lifting seats, as well as to inform the public of the risks associated with the non-use of restraint systems. The ultimate goal is to reduce serious and fatal injuries in road traffic collisions.
The safety belt remains the most effective safety feature in motor vehicles. According to the analysis of available statistics for the three years 2017 – 2019, 55.56% of dead drivers and passengers of vehicles did not carry a safety belt.
The Police remain committed to the service of society with a view to ensuring the safety of the public on the road network to prevent fatal and serious road collisions.
