TALA NEWS

Some news for you:

1  The 'ovalabout' is to have a facelift and will include a sculpture by Yiota Ioannidou, and a water feature.  It is anticipated that the work will take 3-4 months.

You will be familiar with the work of Tala resident Yiota Ioannidou.  Yiota has designed and made most of the sculptures seen around Paphos - the fisherboy and the mermaid down at Paphos harbour, the girl with the hoop and the girl with the birds in Paphos, just some examples of her work.

The planned work will create a beautiful feature.

2  We are still waiting to hear from Traffic Department regarding their proposal to help traffic flow at the junctions leading onto the main road, Miltiadi Stylianou, opposite the new complex.

There is the road coming down from the village [Griva Digeni] and the road Ampelias.   Exiting from either road is dangerous.

Under discussion are traffic lights or a roundabout.   Traffic lights are likely to be the preferred option as there is concern from the Traffic Department about a roundabout on a hill.

Until a decision is made, the planned re-surfacing of the main road is 'on hold'.

3  Pavements - there are plans to instal pavement where sections are not in place from the 'ovalabout' down to the Visteria kiosk, and to replace sections where the pavement has been badly damaged in the same stretch.
