A protest event is being held by citizens outside the RIK for the song, which will represent Cyprus in the Eurovision contest, entitled "El Diablo".
In a statement, the Cyprus Orthodox Youth states that "this song "el diablo" is a hymn to dark forces, proclaims man's allegiance to darkness and humiliation (after all, you said it yourself that it refers to Stockholm syndrome) and offends our people".
It is noted that the protesters hold banners, which read "we love Christ", while some also hold crosses.
The protesters delivered a resolution to the news director of the RIK, Paniko Hatzipanagi, stating that "their position is that the song serves other motives, it is a hymn to dark forces, while there is no artistic background to this song and the RIK has the time to find a song that will highlight the problem of survival of the state and the Greek Orthodox community in Cyprus".
"It's not a simple matter, you've put up the Cypriot flag, if you didn't put up the Cypriot flag there would be no problem. Cyprus is not an island of Satanists, the Virgin Mary set foot in Cyprus, went through so many conquests but did not surrender her faith. We refuse to be expressed to us. You can either withdraw the participation or the flag of Cyprus" stressed a demonstrator.
In statements at the scene, a protester says she is in the room to say she disagrees with the choice of song because the devil is raised. "Today I would like to say that the only way to Heaven is Jesus Christ, while the devil is a liar, a thief and a homicide," as the gospel says. We don't want him to represent Cyprus, which belongs to a Christian nation, this song," he said.
It is noted that the protesters hold banners, which read "we love Christ", while some also hold crosses.
