PAPHOS HOTELIERS - THE MARKET OPENS AFTER JUNE

Filenews 12 March 2021 - by Dora Christodoulou

Paphos hotel units have already started receiving messages about the practical interest of foreigners for holidays in the province this year, but mainly after June. This is stressed by the president of PASYXE Paphos, Thanos Michaelides, while pointing out that the climate in Britain and Israel is changing more positively, creating expectations in the tourism industry.

The president of the hoteliers of Paphos observes that the world has begun, due to vaccinations in European countries, to feel that he will be able to plan his holidays this summer, which is why the last few days are recording increasing interest from foreign tour operators for Paphos.

"But above all, this interest has been going on since June," he said. " Hoteliers, for our part, would like this reopening of our units to begin as soon as possible to be ready for the first major wave of visitors in the summer.

In order to do this, however, we must first and foremost know what will happen to the programme of support for hotel employees implemented by the Government. If this programme continues in the coming months, the hotel units will be able to reopen even with very little information'.

Thanos Michaelides described the messages of recent days from Britain and Israel as very encouraging. The very advanced vaccination programme of these countries, he said, raises the expectation that the flow of visitors from the neighbouring country can begin in April, while from the UK in May.

"The return to normality", concluded the president of PASYXE Paphos, "will be close in 2022, if in the meantime we manage this summer to work with more visitors than last year".
